Group B, Match 1, SL vs BER: Sri Lanka beat Bermuda by 243 runs
Sri Lanka defeated Bermuda by 243 runs at Port of Spain, Trinidad on Thursday.
Chasing an improbable 322, Bermuda was bowled out for 78 runs in 24.4 overs. Farveez Maharoof picked up four wickets, while Lasith Malinga scalped three and Muttiah Muralitharan took two.
Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene was adjudged Man of the Match for his knock of 85.
Electing to bat Sri Lanka piled on a massive 321 runs against Bermuda at the Queen`s Park Oval on Thursday.
Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara shared a solid partnership to take Sri Lanka to a commanding position against Bermuda. Both slammed half centuries on the process.
Reported Earlier: Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene won the toss and elected to bat against debutantes Bermuda in a Group B match at Port of Spain, Trinidad on Thursday.
The debutantes will be tested against the pace of Chaminda Vaas, Lasith Malinga and the crafty spin of Muttiah Muralitharan. Bermuda has just one professional cricketer in batsman David Hemp who has represented English county Warwickshire and now leads Glamorgan.
