Bangladesh to get bonuses for World Cup wins

The Bangladesh cricket team are to receive bonuses for winning matches at the World Cup in the West Indies, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said on Sunday.
"To spur the Bangladesh Cricket Team on in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007, the Board announced incentive bonuses for the players," the BCB said in a statement. "Accordingly, each player will receive an additional US $2000 (on top of the usual win bonus) per match for winning a Group Stage game." "If the team qualify for the Super Eight stage then each player will receive an additional US $3000 (on top of the usual win bonus) for winning a game," the BCB added.
Bangladesh, playing in their third World Cup, are in Group B along with India, Sri Lanka and Bermuda. Bangladesh beat Scotland and Pakistan in their first World Cup in 1999, but failed to win a match in 2003. The tournament starts next month.
Bangladesh looking forward to the challenge

Bangladesh, exuding confidence on their arrival on Tuesday, were already looking ahead to the challenge awaiting them in next month's ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 in the Caribbean.
The Asian side was met on arrival by the deputy High Commission out of Ottawa, Canada, Syed Masud Mahmood Khundoker, as well as Antiguan government and CWC Local Organising Committee officials. Bangladesh will be engaged in a tri-series involving Bermuda, who arrived here on Monday night, and Canada, who are due in tomorrow. The series starts on Sunday at the Antigua Recreation Ground and will help the three teams fine-tune their preparations. Bangladesh will play their official warm-up matches in Barbados against New Zealand and Scotland before travelling to Trinidad for their Group matches against Sri Lanka, India and Bermuda.
Bangladesh names final squad for World Cup

Bangladesh named a 15-member squad on Tuesday for the upcoming cricket World Cup to be held in the West Indies.
The squad, led by experienced batsman Habibul Bashar, has eight specialist batsmen, chief selector Faruque Ahmed told reporters. Khaled Mashud, who featured in Bangladesh's two previous World Cup teams as wicketkeeper-batsman, has been dropped because of his poor form, Ahmed said. Mashud has been replaced by young wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim. Ace spinner Mohammad Rafique is among the three specialist spinners. The squad also contains three specialist pacers, led by in-form bowler Murtaza. The squad was picked up a day after the Bangladesh team returned home from a 3-1 series win against Zimbabwe in its last preparatory contest before the World Cup to be staged in the Caribbean between March 17 and April 28. Bangladesh World Cup squad: Habibul Bashar, Shahriar Nafees, Tamim Iqbal, Aftab Ahmed, Sakib-al-Hasan, Mohammas Ashraful, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Rafique, Abdur Razzak, Mashrafee-bin-Murtaza, Tapash Baishya, Shahadat Hossain, Syed Russel, Rajin Saleh and Javed Omar.
