ICC World Cup Cricket Match 2007India vs West Indies Warm UP MatchIND vs WI Warm-Up: India beat West Indies by 9 wicketsMar 09, 2007
India raced to a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over hosts West Indies to collect two wins from as many World Cup warm up ties in Jamaica.
Reaching the victory target of 86 set by West Indies seemed a mere formality for India, who romped home in just 18.3 overs as the entire match was completed in less than 45 overs. West Indies meek surrender for just 85 may have made Indias task easy but captain Rahul Dravid would remain worried about Virender Sehwags continuous run of poor form. Sehwag, who was asked to open with Robin Uthappa, went without scoring and sent some worrying signals, on his treacherous form, to the Indian camp. However, Dinesh Karthik (38) who joined Robin (35) at 6-1, settled down quickly and sustained an unbroken parternship of 80 until the target was achieved without much fuss. Earlier, India shot out West Indies for 85 to impose themselves as a team that had the credentials to travel far into the tournament. Pre-Match Report: Former India captain Sourav Ganguly hurt his ankle during a net practice session in Jamaica on Thursday ahead of Fridays warm-up tie against West Indies in Jamaica. Ganguly may be a doubtful starter against the Windies although a final decision on whether he would play the warm-up tie or not will be taken by the team management. There were reports flowing in from Jamaica that Ganguly was down on his knees after being hit on the thumb by fast bowler S Sreesanth during India's training session on Thursday. The in-form Ganguly is known to have taken a knock on his left thumb facing the Kerala paceman but was reported to have said he would be fine. ![]() ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 Subscribe to World Cup Cricket XML/RSS Feeds Subscribe to Latest Cricket News XML/RSS FeedsAll World Cup Cricket matches in West Indies start at 09:30 local time (14:30GMT).
