Group B, Match 2, IND vs BAN: India wary of Bangladesh

India Cricket team Bangladesh Cricket team When India meet Bangladesh for the first time in a World Cup today at the Trinidad Queens Park Oval, they will give respect to their neighbours, for Bangladesh has the knack of pullig off surprises when it matters most. Though Bangladesh have only beaten India once in 14 meetings, their defeat of Australia at Cardiff in 2005 and success over New Zealand last week suggest they are steadily improving and are not incapable of upsetting the more fancied side.
At the same time, Indias overall performance in the West Indies is not inspiring with five wins and 15 losses. India skipper Rahul Dravid has warned his players of the need to be fully "switched on" against the Tigers. India are likely to repose their faith in the recently non-performing Virender Sehwag and Irfan Pathan, who boasts impressive statistics against Bangladesh, in an endeavour to haul them back to form. India Team (from): R Dravid (Captain), S Tendulkar, S Ganguly, R Uthappa, Y Singh, V Sehwag, D Karthik, MS Dhoni, I Pathan, A Agarkar, A Kumble, H Singh, Z Khan, S Sreesanth, M Patel.
Bangladesh Team (from): Habibul Bashar (Captain), Shahriar Nafees, Tamim Iqbal, Aftab Ahmed, Saqibul Hasan, Mohammad Ashraful, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Rafique, Abdur Razzak, Mashrafe Mortaza, Shahadat Hossain, Tapash Baisya, Syed Rasel, Rajin Saleh, Javed Omar.

Herschelle Gibbs Hits Sixes Record at Cup

South Africa Gibbs Six Sixes South Africa Cricket team South African Gibbs hit six sixes in an over, the first ever in a cricket international, (first at a one-day international and a World Cup) as his team dominated the Netherlands in the World Cup group stage match. Gibbs achieved his feat off Daan van Bunge to help the top- ranked South Africans amass 353-3, the fifth-highest tally at a World Cup. It's up there with the best things I've done. I never thought about getting six in a row, but if it's your day, it's your day. Gibbs's heroics allowed him to became only the third member of an exclusive club of players who have hit six sixes in an elite match. He joined India's Ravi Shastri and West Indian Garfield Sobers, who both achieved the feat in first class cricket in respectively 1985 and 1968.
Gibbs's whirlwind innings was ended five balls later when he holed out to a catch on the long-on boundary by Van Bunge off a ball from Dutch captain Luuk van Troost. He faced just 40 balls for his 72, which included four fours and seven sixes.
