Group A, Match 2, SA vs NE: South Africa beat Netherlands by 221 runs

South Africa Cricket team The Netherlands Cricket team South Africa registered a thumping 221-run victory over Netherlands in a Group A encounter at St Kitts on Friday. This was their highest victory margin in ODIs.
Chasing 354 for a win, Netherlands finished at 132 for nine in 40 overs.
Reported Earlier: It rained sixes and fours at St Kitts as South Africa made mincemeat of the Dutch posting 353 for three in a rain-curtailed 40 overs a side Group A match.
Records fell by the wayside as Hershelle Gibbs became the first batsman ever to hit six consecutive sixes in one over in a World Cup. Mark Boucher smashed his way through to the fastest ever fifty in any World Cup, reaching the mark in just 21 deliveries. The Proteas also broke the record for the maximum number of sixes in a World Cup innings, hitting 18 of them. In addition, they plundered 120 runs in just boundaries. At the end of the innings, Jaques Kallis remained unbeaten on 128, while Boucher was 75 not out.
Pre-Match Report: The Netherlands will be playing for pride when they take on giants South Africa in a Group A match at the Warner Park Stadium, St Kitts on Friday.
South Africa will be without fast bowler Makhaya Ntini, who is likely to be replaced either by paceman Roger Telemachus or left arm spinner Robin Peterson. Ntini joined the squad late on Wednesday. He had stayed back in South Africa to be with his wife at the birth of the couple's second child.
South Africa had the worst of suspect pitches in both of the warm-up matches against Ireland and Pakistan, but captain Graeme Smith said the durface at St Kitts met with his team's approval. The ground is a small one and if the Proteas bat first, one can expect a run fest. Even though there is no match-up between the two sides, it's always important to remember that no one should get complacent about unknown foes.
