ICC World Cup Cricket Match 2007

Ireland vs New Zealand

Super 8, Match 12, NZ vs IRL: New Zealand beat Ireland by 129 runs

New Zealand Cricket team Ireland Cricket team Brothers Niall and Kevin O'Brien shared a 75-run stand but Ireland lost to New Zealand by 129 runs as the Black Caps kept up their 100% winning record.
Hamish Marshall's throw did for Kevin, who had hit three huge sixes in his 47. But when Niall fell to Jeetan Patel, it sparked a late-order collapse as the Irish lost their last six wickets for just nine runs. Reported Earlier: Peter Fulton fell short of a second ODI ton as New Zealand stuttered in a rain-interrupted game with Ireland, making 263-8 off their 50 overs.
Fulton underpinned the innings but was trapped lbw by Kyle McCallan for 83. But a late assault by Brendon McCullum (47) and James Franklin (34 not out) boosted the Black Caps' score. Dave Langford-Smith (2-41) was impressive with the ball for Ireland, while McCallan and Andrew White also picked up two wickets apiece. New Zealand team: P G Fulton, S P Fleming, H J H Marshall, S B Styris, C D McMillan, J D P Oram, B B McCullum, D L Vettori, J E C Franklin, S E Bond, J S Patel

Super 8, Match 12, NZ vs IRL: Bracewell wary of Irish scrappers

New Zealand Cricket team Ireland Cricket team New Zealand coach John Bracewell is wary of the challenge of World Cup debutants Ireland on Monday because they are a mirror image of his own team.
Ireland, who progressed to the Super Eights after a shock win over 1992 champions Pakistan in the group stage, are expected to finish last in the second-stage round robin as they have 12 amateurs in their 15-man squad. Bracewell's observations of Ireland came after their coach Adrian Birrell worked with him while Bracewell was employed at English county team Gloucestershire, then the leading one-day team in England. New Zealand team (from): S Fleming (Captain), P Fulton, H Marshall, R Taylor, S Styris, C McMillan, J Oram, B McCullum (Wicket Keeper), D Vettori, S Bond, J Franklin, M Gillespie, J Patel, M Mason, C Martin.
