Reported Earlier: Peter Fulton fell short of a second ODI ton as New Zealand stuttered in a rain-interrupted game with Ireland, making 263-8 off their 50 overs.
Fulton underpinned the innings but was trapped lbw by Kyle McCallan for 83. But a late assault by Brendon McCullum (47) and James Franklin (34 not out) boosted the Black Caps' score. Dave Langford-Smith (2-41) was impressive with the ball for Ireland, while McCallan and Andrew White also picked up two wickets apiece. Ireland, who progressed to the Super Eights after a shock win over 1992 champions Pakistan in the group stage, are expected to finish last in the second-stage round robin as they have 12 amateurs in their 15-man squad. Bracewell's observations of Ireland came after their coach Adrian Birrell worked with him while Bracewell was employed at English county team Gloucestershire, then the leading one-day team in England.
