England vs Bermuda Warm UP Match at St. Vincent
ENG vs BER Warm-Up: England beat Bermuda by 241 runs
Mar 05, 2007
England beat Bermuda by 241 runs in World Cup warm-up in St Vincent.
Two Dwayne Leverock wickets had Michael Vaughan's men 132-5, before Jamie Dalrymple's 76 took them to 286-8. And the Bermudian batsmen looked well short of international class as they struggled throughout their run chase. Jon Lewis took 3-7 in four overs as the rank outsiders in this year's World Cup were bowled out for 45 in 22.2 overs. England's second and final warm-up is against Australia on Friday. The Cup holders will surely provide a sterner test. Pre-Match Report: Andrew Strauss was today left out of England's opening warm-up match for the Cricket World Cup against Bermuda. The Middlesex batsman struggled for form during the recent Commonwealth Bank Series in Australia and looks to have paid the price as England build-up to the start of the tournament. Strauss was overlooked alongside Ravi Bopara as England welcomed back captain Michael Vaughan and Kevin Pietersen into their team for the 13-a side warm-up. England also selected all four of the seamers who are competing for two places in England's opening group match of the tournament against New Zealand on March 16. Jon Lewis, James Anderson, Sajid Mahmood and Liam Plunkett were all chosen in the 13 and must impress England's management in today's game and Friday's other warm-up match against Australia.
